Stuck in Lukla...

Wednesday 11th July

overcast

6am and ready to leave but the clouds that followed us from Everest looked like they wanted to keep us in Lukla. Tommy wasn't too fresh faced and the exhaustion of yesterday, plus a hangover allowed him to snooze in the lounge of the Paradise lodge. Around 730 we headed to the airport, Matt and Emily arrived after trekking from Phakding at 2am this morning due to her ackillies tendon being strained, we caught up on last nights antics and were looking forward to getting our flights. We checked in and waited... and waited... And eventually went to the Buddah lodge next to the airport for more comfort as the clouds were still covering the runway. We met the Hong Kong boys who were staying there and were spoilt with the luxury of a television with Star Movies. Eventually the others came down, little did we expect we would be staying there for the next 3 days. We spent the next few days watching movies, playing cards, reading and eating samosas, drinking rice wine which we bought in an oil canester, there was a chess board made from our basic resources of paper, black pen, tin foil, card and scissors. On the second day we didn't even get up when the alarm went off as we peeked out the curtains and mist shrouded the mountain. We were lucky enough to watch 3 episodes of Game of Thrones with Matt and Emily which was one of the highlights. Cash was becoming very limited all round so we were sharing everything.
