A Travellerspoint blog

The Castle Resort, Pokhara Lakeside.

Wednesday 25th  - Friday 27th July

semi-overcast

We trekked 20minutes up a mountain to be greeted by paradise! A terracotta castle on the hill surrounded by forests, over looking the lake, there is a solar heated swimming pool, an Irish bar-Branigans, table tennis, a DVD room and 3 gorgeous boxers!
Instant relaxation and comfort after the week in the school. We met the owner Joe, an Irish man who welcomed us instantly and spent time talking with us at the bar. He is a fascinating man with lots of experiences and a wealth of knowledge. I headed to the room for a nice, hot shower as my skin and clothes were mud stained, as I had washed using collected rain water the night before. The room was beautiful - the castle design gave a double room, circular in shape with old mahogany furniture, a double bed with a proper mosquito net and a lovely en-suite. There is a terrace which looks through trees to the stunning lake and panoramic views of the mountains. I was in heaven!!
The food was beautiful too, great quality and very well cooked! We sat with Joe until the early hours chatting about all sorts of adventures.
We relaxed fully enjoying the views and eating delicious food. We had a late afternoon swim before dinner.
A late morning greeted us with greyer skies than yesterday but it was still warm, we relaxed by the pool in a tranquil environment feeling totally spoilt. A real treat!
