A Travellerspoint blog

To Namche Bazar.

Monday 2nd July

sunny 20 °C

We set off early and the sun joined us again. We trekked around the mountain, through villages. We slowly climbed and crossed metal bridges which stretched across valleys and waterfalls. We saw many Nepalese workers who carry goods or huge stones on a back pack type contraption which has a strap resting on their heads - these weigh between 50-150kgs and they get paid 30rs per kilo. We met 2 young Nepalese lads sat resting on a wall, Tommy and Tanka tried lifting the 50kgs and took a few steps but were amazed by the weight and the treacherous route these young men had to take! We stopped at a beautiful waterfall which was our first encounter with 3 international guys from Hong Kong! They stripped under the waterfall to capture their trek from Lukla.
